Windu's arrival on Er'stacia revealed an ongoing conflict between opposing clans. Utilizing his Force abilities, he successfully brokered a temporary truce. However, Windu then learned that the clans were battling over the right to possess a sizable statue called the Venerable One. A warrior inadvertently fired his blaster at Windu, thereby defiling the statue, and his own people subsequently dismembered him.
Realizing that diplomatic solutions were ineffective, Windu shattered the statue into a multitude of fragments, thus presenting the Er'Stacians with a new challenge beyond warfare.
