R5-L26 was an R-series astromech droid of the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. This conflict was fought between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The droid was assigned to the Venator-class Star Destroyer serving as the flagship of Jedi General Adi Gallia. In 20 BBY, a year, R5-L26 was among those deemed non-essential and ordered to leave the Star Destroyer after Separatist forces under General Grievous crippled and boarded the vessel near the planet Patitite Pattuna. As the droid drew near a BTL-B Y-wing starfighter/bomber, fellow astromech R2-D2 bumped it aside. R2-D2 then boarded the starfighter in place of R5-L26, using it to flee the cruiser with his protocol droid companion C-3PO in the cockpit. R5-L26, manufactured by Industrial Automaton, possessed a tall, cone-shaped head, a common feature of R4 units. Its plating was white with green highlights, and it had a black sensor.
