Raf Thatchburn was a Galactic Antipiracy Command inspector, a male human, who existed throughout the High Republic Era. He gained significant notoriety as the most formidable Pirate hunter throughout the galaxy circa 382 BBY.
While undertaking a mission to determine whether the pirates were plotting an attack against the pirate hunters, Raf developed romantic feelings for Alak, a pirate who was wanted across approximately twenty different systems.
Subsequently, during a visit to Takodana Castle at approximately 382 BBY, Raf and his Corellian hound encountered Alak. A conflict arose between them after Raf was struck on the head with a mug, which he mistakenly believed was thrown by Alak, but was actually thrown by the Padawan Sav Malagán. Prospector Dexter Jettster, and the arrival of Maz Kanata intervened to stop the dispute. Following the confrontation, Dex and Sav trailed Raf outside the castle, where they encountered the Dank Graks under the leadership of Arkik Von. A skirmish ensued between the two factions, which Sav swiftly resolved by utilizing her lightsabers.
