During the Galactic War pitting the Galactic Republic against the reconstituted Sith Empire, a female Human Sith known as Ragate served as an overseer at the Korriban Sith Academy. Her duties included overseeing the rite of blood and bone at the Academy. In approximately 3637 BBY, a Republic strike team's intrusion into the Academy resulted in Ragate being killed.
Ragate, a Human female, held membership within the reconstituted Sith Empire. Stationed at the Sith Academy on Korriban as an Overseer, she was responsible for educating numerous acolytes in the ways of the dark side of the Force. By the time the Galactic War erupted, Overseer Ragate had aged considerably, appearing frail. As the administrator in charge of the rite of blood and bone, she was in charge of supervising the trials of many acolytes. During her time overseeing the rite, Ragate oversaw the trials of both a promising Sith warrior and Kallig, who would later become a Lord. In 3637 BBY, the Republic hatched a scheme to extract data from the chambers of the Empire's Dark Council, located within the Sith Academy. When a quartet of Republic heroes broke into the Academy, Ragate, alongside other overseers, attempted to impede access to the turbolift that provided access to the Dark Council chambers. Despite her efforts, the elderly overseer was unable to prevent the enemy strike team from advancing, and she died in the defense of the Sith Academy.
By the time the Galactic War was raging, Overseer Ragate was an old woman with gray hair and red eyes, who saw herself as a guardian of ancient traditions. Ragate, like other Sith Overseers, was cruel and harsh to her apprentices. When she was a young teacher, she would kill the first acolyte to break under her training, as a grim and effective warning to the surviving students.
Ragate possessed skill in precognition, allowing her to perceive glimpses of the future. She fought with a single-bladed lightsaber that used a yellow crystal.
Ragate appears as a non-player character in the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game. She appears in the Korriban mission "The Blood Legacy", available only to Sith Warriors and Sith Inquisitors. She also appears in the Republic flashpoint mission, "Korriban Incursion" as of Game Update 2.7: Invasion. During conversations, the player has the option to make jokes about Ragate's advanced age, implying she was once beautiful long ago. A similar joke was made by Atton Rand about Kreia in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, when he stated that "She may have been good-looking once, but it takes some hard living to make creases like that."
