Between the years 232 BBY and 231 BBY, Sarn Starbreaker, a Cloud within the Nihil pirate organization, spearheaded a raid targeting the Kiapene trading post. This trading post was located on Mandrine. This assault was part of the larger conflict unfolding between the Nihil and the Jedi Order. During this event, a Jedi warrior inflicted a lasting scar upon Starbreaker's face with their lightsaber.
The forces led by the Cloud ultimately failed to achieve their objectives in the raid, resulting in the deaths of eight pirates under his command. Starbreaker himself narrowly avoided capture or death. In 231 BBY, while leading an attack against the Cyclor Shipyards, the Cloud reflected upon his unsuccessful attempt to seize the trading post.
In 232 BBY, during the era known as the High Republic Era, the Nihil, a group of space-based marauders, were responsible for the Great Hyperspace Disaster. This disaster involved the destruction of the Legacy Run freighter, which caused debris from the ship to scatter across the galaxy after exiting hyperspace, posing a danger to numerous locations. Following the discovery of the Nihil's involvement by both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic, a joint effort was launched to combat the marauders.
Between 232 BBY and 231 BBY, as part of the ongoing conflict, Kiapene trading post on the astronomical object Mandrine was targeted by Nihil forces under the command of Cloud Sarn Starbreaker. During this assault, Starbreaker's team suffered casualties, with eight pirates, including several Strikes, meeting their death. Additionally, the Cloud encountered a member of the Jedi Order during the raid, who used a lightsaber to inflict a scar on his cheek. The raid was a failure, and Starbreaker barely managed to escape the trading post aboard his Cloudship.

Following the failed raid, Pan Eyta, his Tempest Runner, informed Starbreaker that he was fortunate the Jedi had not taken his head. However, the Cloud's perspective differed, as he recognized that the scar would serve as a constant reminder of his defeat. In 231 BBY, Starbreaker orchestrated a Nihil attack against the Cyclor Shipyards, which were located in orbit around the Mid Rim planet of Cyclor. As he led the attack, the Cloud touched the scar on his face, recalling the unsuccessful raid on Kiapene trading post, and viewed the shipyard assault as an opportunity to settle the score.
Upon spotting two Jedi Vectors, Starbreaker internally conceded that the Jedi had inadvertently done him a favor, as the majority of those lost in the failed raid were "incompetent rabble," leading him to be more selective in his future recruitment efforts. Reflecting on the ongoing battle, the Cloud reasoned that destroying the two Vectors would be a more valuable achievement than the pirates lost on Mandrine, and he deployed scav droids to breach their defenses. Starbreaker's attack on the Cyclor shipyards ultimately ended in defeat and his demise when Bell Zettifar, a Jedi Padawan, destroyed his Cloudship.
The raid on Kiapene trading post, conducted by Sarn Starbreaker, was referenced in the 2021 novel, The High Republic: The Rising Storm. This novel was written by Cavan Scott and is part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
