Rancor sauce served as a sauce to flavor noodles with. During 0 ABY, Luke Skywalker and Nakari Kelen, members of the rebels, were assigned a mission to retrieve documents and reports from a source on the planet Denon. This source was Sakhet, a Kupohan who managed a noodle shop known as Sakhet's Noodles. To signal their arrival for the information, the rebels were instructed to order Corellian buckwheat noodles seasoned with rancor sauce. This code was provided to them by Admiral Gial Ackbar and the protocol droid C-3PO, with Ackbar finding the concept of rancor sauce particularly unappealing.
After placing his order, Skywalker anticipated a terrible taste, fearing the worst from the sauce. Kelen, on the other hand, eagerly awaited Skywalker's reaction. However, to Skywalker's great surprise and relief, Sakhet instead provided them with two servings of nerf nuggets. The following day, Sakhet informed the rebels about the location of an encrypted file, revealing that its password was "Rancor Sauce." The sauce's name was the same as the rancor, a species of reptile.
The mention of rancor sauce appears in Heir to the Jedi, a novel penned by Kevin Hearne in 2015.
