Rapier Squadron was a starfighter squadron of T-85 X-wings that operated within the New Republic's starfleet. Commander Poe Dameron served as the leader of this particular squadron. This squadron, consisting of four members, had the duty of patrolling the Mirrin sector, safeguarding its trade routes against threats like the Hutts, the Guavian Death Gang, and Kanjiklub. After the Skirmish in OR-Kappa-2722, Rapier Squadron shifted its allegiance to the Resistance, establishing its base of operations on the rebuilt MC80 Star Cruiser known as the Echo of Hope.
Before his transfer to the Resistance, Poe Dameron commanded Rapier Squadron, a New Republic squadron flying X-Wings. Their duties included Republic patrols, during which they observed the First Order's capture of the Yissira Zyde within the Mirrin sector. Rapier Squadron engaged the hijackers, but the First Order successfully took control of the ship and jumped into hyperspace. Muran was caught in the ship's wake, resulting in the destruction of his X-wing starfighter before he could escape.
