Muran

Muran was a pilot in the New Republic who flew a T-85 X-wing starfighter. As a male, he served in Rapier Squadron under the command of Commander Poe Dameron during the latter part of the Cold War. Sadly, he perished during an engagement with First Order troops in the vicinity of Suraz 4.

Biography

Serving as a pilot in the New Republic, Muran piloted a T-85 X-wing and was known by the callsign "Rapier Four." Approximately twenty-nine years following the Battle of Endor, Rapier Leader Poe Dameron received a distress signal originating from the Yissira Zyde within the Mirrin sector. Muran, along with the other members of Rapier Squadron, made the jump to lightspeed only to discover First Order forces in the process of boarding the stricken freighter. While Rapier Squadron engaged the boarding party, the First Order successfully seized control of the ship and initiated a jump to hyperspace. Tragically, Muran was caught in the wake of the vessel, resulting in the destruction of his X-wing starfighter before he had an opportunity to eject. Dameron considered Muran's death as preventable and attributed blame to the First Order.

Personality and traits

Muran demonstrated competence as a starfighter pilot. Poe Dameron praised him for his lack of complaints regarding their routine flight duties, a contrast to his fellow pilots Iolo Arana and Karé Kun. Despite his abilities as a pilot, Muran was unable to escape his demise when a hyperspace wake, generated by the hijacked freighter Yissira Zyde, collided with his X-wing.

Behind the scenes

The character of Muran was first introduced in Before the Awakening, a young adult novel penned by Greg Rucka and released in 2015.
