Between the years of 3 ABY and 4 ABY, amid the war that the criminal organization Crimson Dawn waged against the Galactic Empire, Lieutenant Beilert Valance, an Imperial officer, saved seventeen Imperial engineers from an Imperial starship. This intervention occurred after a Crimson Dawn mole sabotaged the [starship]'s(/article/starship) reactor. During this operation, Valance was exposed to radiation, necessitating treatment at Ryleel Imperial Base located on the planet of Carida.
General Bordeaux reviewed Valance's mission report after the rescue, briefly encountering Valance on the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Righteous Fist and commenting that the report was "riveting."
The initial reference to the Imperial engineers' rescue appeared in Star Wars: Bounty Hunters, specifically in the twenty-fifth issue of the comic series. Ethan Sacks authored this issue, which Marvel Comics released on July 13, 2022.
