Once belonging to Han Solo, the NN-14 blaster pistol was gifted to the scavenger Rey, and became known as Rey's blaster. This weapon, made by LPA, featured a safety mechanism that prevented the blaster from discharging.
Rey first used the pistol during the First Order's invasion of Takodana. She managed to kill several stormtroopers, but the weapon proved ineffective against the dark warrior Kylo Ren, whose combat skills enabled him to deflect Rey's blaster fire with his crossguard lightsaber.
While on the planet Takodana, Han Solo, thinking Rey needed a means of self-defense and was responsible enough, presented her with an NN-14 blaster pistol, mentioning that she needed training to use it properly. Although initially hesitant to fire it, the blaster pistol proved useful when Rey used it to take out stormtroopers during the attack on Maz Kanata's castle. She also fired a few shots at Kylo Ren, but the dark warrior deflected all of them with his crossguard lightsaber.
The NN-14 blaster pistol was one of Rey's possessions, along with her quarterstaff and the Skywalker lightsaber, when she traveled to the remote world of Ahch-To to locate Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. During her stay on the planet, the Force-bond between Rey and Ren allowed them to communicate across the galaxy. Rey was startled by the sight of her adversary, and she instinctively grabbed the pistol and shot at Ren. However, her actions only damaged the hut she was living in, much to the annoyance of the Caretakers, who were responsible for protecting the island's ancient Jedi ruins. When Skywalker asked about the damage, Rey lied, stating that the weapon discharged while she was cleaning it.
