Rey's blaster
Once belonging to Han Solo, the NN-14 blaster pistol was gifted to the scavenger Rey, and became known as Rey's blaster. It was manufactured by LPA and included a safety mechanism to stop the blaster from being discharged.
Rey utilized the pistol for the very first time when the First Order launched an invasion of Takodana. Despite her successfully killing a number of stormtroopers, the weapon proved ineffective against the dark warrior Kylo Ren, whose combat skills enabled him to use his crossguard lightsaber to deflect all of Rey's blaster bolts.
Description
Rey's blaster, a NN-14 blaster pistol, was a compact but deadly weapon. LPA developed it to include a safety switch in its design, enabling users to lock the pistol's firing mechanisms. It also featured a compact grip, an enlarged power core, an armored body shell, and a muzzle that suppressed flashes and stabilized shots.
History
Han Solo decided that Rey needed a means of self-defense and was responsible enough to handle it when they arrived on the planet of Takodana. He gave her an NN-14 blaster pistol and told her she needed training to use it correctly. Though initially hesitant to fire, the blaster pistol came in handy when Rey used it to take down stormtroopers during the attack on Maz Kanata's castle. She also fired a few shots at Kylo Ren, but the dark warrior deflected every shot with his crossguard lightsaber.
The NN-14 blaster pistol was one of Rey's possessions when she journeyed to the distant world of Ahch-To to find Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, along with her quarterstaff and the Skywalker lightsaber. During her time on the planet, Rey and Ren were able to communicate with each other across the stars because of their Force-bond. Rey was startled by the sight of her enemy and instinctively grabbed the pistol and shot at Ren. However, her actions only resulted in damage to the hut she was staying in, which angered the Caretakers, who were in charge of protecting the island's ancient Jedi ruins. When Skywalker questioned her about the damage, Rey lied and said the weapon discharged while she was cleaning it.
