Rogwa Wodrata

Rogwa Wodrata, a Holwuff senator of considerable influence in the Galactic Republic's Senate, showed his support for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Separatist Crisis. Wodrata was present at a summit held in the Stalgasin hive on the planet Geonosis during 22 BBY. At this gathering, the members of the Executive Separatist Council formally pledged their loyalty to Count Dooku, who was the leader of the Confederacy. The First Battle of Geonosis, which signaled the beginning of the Clone Wars, erupted shortly after the summit's conclusion between the Separatist forces and the Republic's military. Wodrata's physical characteristics included black eyes, brown skin, and hair. While on Geonosis, the senator was seen wearing a black robe.

Behind the scenes

Rogwa Wodrata made his debut appearance in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, a film from the prequel trilogy released in 2002. Initially, the character Toonbuck Toora, played by Hilton Howson (one of the creature artists), was featured in the summit scene on Geonosis. However, George Lucas, the director, felt that the Toora costume lacked the necessary expressiveness and menace. Consequently, in post-production, he replaced Toora with the more intimidating Wodrata. Wodrata was created by modifying the head of an alien Jedi and superimposing it onto Toora's face. The production team gave the character the nickname "Gator Head."

Within the official Star Wars canon, Wodrata's identity was established in the eighty-fourth issue of Star Wars - The Official Magazine, published in December 2016. The name "Rogwa Wodrata" first appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity. It was initially used in the "Star Wars Q&A" section of the sixty-fifth issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine, penned by Pablo Hidalgo and released on January 21, 2003.
