A male Devaronian criminal named Roland Durand (Devaronian, male) was the offspring of the crime boss Isa Durand. He formerly engaged the services of Ciddarin Scaleback, an information broker, compensating her for the delivery of the lizard named Ruby.
Durand sought collaboration with the Pyke Syndicate, seizing control of Cid's Parlor on Ord Mantell due to the planet's strategic position relative to numerous hyperspace routes beneficial to the Pykes. Scaleback and her employees, the clone mercenary unit known as the Bad Batch, orchestrated a heist to pilfer the spice intended for sale to the Pykes, aiming to disrupt Durand's arrangement and oust him from power. Upon discovering the spice theft, Durand and his associates attempted to reclaim it, resulting in a skirmish that led to its loss. Subsequently, he informed the Pykes, who then compelled Scaleback and the Bad Batch to recover the missing spice.
The Pykes detained Durand, along with Omega, a member of the Bad Batch, who served as a hostage until the spice was recovered. During his captivity, Durand remarked to Omega that Ruby was selective about whom she befriended when his pet nestled against her. Following the safe return of the spice, Omega and Scaleback persuaded the Pykes to spare Durand's life, citing the Trandoshan's warning that his death would trigger a war with his mother, crime boss Isa Durand, a conflict they were keen to avoid given their recent emergence from hiding. However, as punishment, they severed one of his horns. Durand then departed, relinquishing control of the parlor back to Cid.
Later on, Hunter and Wrecker of the Bad Batch struck a deal with Durand and his mother. In return for the Pyke responsible for cutting off his horn, Roland provided the clones with intelligence regarding Imperial scientist Doctor Hemlock's base of operations, enabling them to rescue Omega, who had been captured by Hemlock. He wished them well in their endeavor.
Roland Durand made his debut in "Infested," the thirteenth installment of the first season of the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which premiered on Disney+ on July 23, 2021. Tom Taylorson provided his voice.
