Saava

Saava were carnivorous plants that resembled snakes, acted as parasites, and originated from the planet of Kashyyyk, their homeworld.

Biology and appearance

These plants, known as Saava, were flesh-eating plants that functioned as parasites. They possessed elongated vines and red, flower-shaped heads. The vines exhibited remarkable resilience against damage, even from the cutting edge of a lightsaber. Saava plants used their vines to slowly approach their prey, extending them until they were close enough to strike. If they detected a possible threat, they would quickly pull back, despite their impressive endurance and physical resistance. Once in contact with a suitable host, they would firmly attach themselves, drawing nutrients from the still-living creature for months or even years.

History

During Cal Kestis's mission to Kashyyyk in 14 BBY, the Jedi Padawan, accompanied by BD-1, came across saava. This occurred as he journeyed through the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk while searching for Tarrful. He successfully defended himself against them using his lightsaber.

Behind the scenes

The saava made their debut in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, released in 2019.
