The Sacred Arena of Salka'a was a combat arena situated on the planet of Mon Cala. It served as the stage for the Ancient Rite of Challenge, a form of combat.
During a Resistance mission to the planet Mon Cala in 34 ABY, Jedi apprentice Rey engaged in combat within the sacred arena. Her opponent was Arkay-Nine, the personal security droid of the Quarren Chadkol Gee. This duel was intended to resolve a dispute arising from accusations leveled against Rey and her fellow Resistance members by a Quarren mob, who claimed they were responsible for an attack.
The droid managed to knock Rey to the ground before commencing to fire upon her. Rey, in turn, urged the onlookers to take cover. Rose Tico, another Resistance operative, implored the Wookiee Chewbacca to assist Rey in neutralizing the droid and preventing further harm to the crowd. Rey then employed the Force to move a Mon Calamari Guard member out of the path of the incoming blaster fire, while simultaneously instructing the crowd to evacuate the arena. Arkay-Nine persisted in firing at Rey until Tico intervened, successfully shooting off the droid's head. However, because of Tico's intervention in the duel, King Ech-Char banished the Resistance operatives from Mon Cala, forcing their exile.
The Sacred Arena of Salka'a made its debut in the third issue of the Star Wars: Allegiance comic mini-series. Ethan Sacks penned the script, Luke Ross provided the illustrations, and Marvel Comics released the issue on October 23, 2019.
