Saras Loorne, a Jedi Master and Jedi General of the male persuasion, participated in the Clone Wars. In the year 19 BBY, Loorne, along with a clone trooper strike team and five additional Jedi, was sent to take control of Murkhana, a planet situated in the Outer Rim and a key stronghold for the Corporate Alliance. During the battle, the infamous Order 66—a directive instructing clone troopers to eliminate their Jedi officers—was executed. Consequently, Loorne and the two Jedi Knights accompanying him were slain by the clones belonging to the 22nd Air Combat Wing. This order was for the troopers to kill the Jedi.
During the final decades of the Galactic Republic, Saras Loorne was a male Jedi Master. As the Clone Wars erupted between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Loorne served the Grand Army of the Republic as a Jedi General. As the conflict neared its conclusion in 19 BBY, Loorne, accompanied by five other Jedi and a group of clone troopers under the leadership of Clone Commander Salvo, was assigned to invade Murkhana, a planet in the Outer Rim that was allied with the Corporate Alliance.
The Republic task force received orders to meet within the Murkhana system. After a week, they launched their attack. As they landed on the planet aboard LAAT/i gunships, the Republic troops were met with Confederate rocket fire. Loorne, however, survived this initial assault. When Master Roan Shryne used the Force to reach out and determine if Loorne was still alive, Loorne confirmed that he was. Following the successful landing, Republic and Separatist forces clashed. Amidst the fighting, the clone troopers received Order 66—a dispatch commanding all clone troopers to slay their Jedi officers. Loorne and the two Jedi Knights with him were ambushed and killed by clones from the 22nd Air Combat Wing. Later, Commander Salvo presented the bodies of Loorne and the two Jedi Knights, along with their lightsabers, to Darth Vader, the Sith Lord and Imperial Executor, during Vader's visit to Murkhana. Vader then instructed Salvo to dispose of the bodies.
Saras Loorne, a Force-sensitive individual, possessed the knowledge and abilities necessary to attain the rank of Jedi Master, and was placed in command of the Murkhana mission over Masters Shryne and Bol Chatak. Despite this, he proved unable to defend himself against the clone troopers, leading to his demise.
Saras Loorne's first appearance was in the 2005 novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, penned by James Luceno. Loorne was later featured in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, although his name was incorrectly listed as "Sares Loorne."
