The Jedi Masters Shaak Ti and Aayla Secura once journeyed to the Sason Temple during the Clone Wars; many years afterward, during the Imperial Era, the renegade archeologist Chelli Lona Aphra and the Jedi Luke Skywalker made their way to Sason, seeking the secrets held within the temple.

This hazardous world was susceptible to magnetic disturbances, which could disrupt the navigation, communication, targeting, and other systems of any starships flying through its atmosphere. Shaak Ti and Aayla Secura, both Jedi Masters, paid a visit to the Sason Temple during the period of the Clone Wars, where they came across a Starweird, a formidable being attuned to the Force. Together, they were successful in confining the Starweird within the temple's walls. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, a dissident archaeologist, made her way to the temple and convinced Luke Skywalker, a Jedi in-training, to join her, promising him a Jedi artifact that would give him an edge over the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Skywalker and Aphra inadvertently set free the Starweird that was imprisoned inside the temple. Following a challenging battle, Skywalker and Aphra were able to defeat the creature.
