Savi's Workshop, disguised as the front for Savi & Son Salvage, was situated within the Black Spire Outpost settlement on the planet of Batuu, located in the Outer Rim. Despite the presence of the occupying First Order, Savi and his Gatherers, who were admirers of the Jedi Order and believers in the Force, secretly ran a lightsaber construction facility there.
Within the Land Port area of Black Spire Outpost on the [Outer Rim](/article/outer_rim_territories] planet Batuu, one could find Savi's Workshop. It outwardly functioned as the business office for Savi & Son Salvage, dealing in recovered scrap metal and other items procured from the company's junkyard. Of particular note were the items carefully selected by the "Gatherers," a group who held the Jedi in high regard and sought to bring balance to the Force by instructing others in the ways of the Jedi Order.

In the year 34 ABY, Savi and his Gatherers managed a clandestine workshop, tucked away in a hidden room, where they assisted individuals in crafting their own personalized lightsabers. These lightsabers were created using components salvaged by the Gatherers from destroyed Jedi temples and starships, with kyber crystals in containers acquired from the Galactic Empire, and natural elements such as rancor teeth; rumors suggested that some parts originated from the Sith. The workshop's operation was kept secret due to the First Order's occupation of Batuu and their disapproval of the group's beliefs, with the Gatherers often leaving to "search for scrap metal."
Despite the necessity for secrecy, author Eloc Throno mentioned in his Traveler's Guide to Batuu that he had overheard travelers discussing Savi's Workshop as if it had a hidden purpose. He observed a visitor telling a Gatherer, "I'm here to gather some parts. Savi sent me." After departing with the Gatherer for a period, the visitor returned with an item on their belt that Throno suspected was a lightsaber.

Savi's Workshop forms a key part of the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge themed area, which initially opened at Disneyland Park on May 31, 2019, and subsequently at Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 29, 2019. Guests visiting these parks have the opportunity to construct and purchase their own customized lightsabers. Access is restricted to those with appointments only, allowing one lightsaber builder and one observing guest. The builders select one of four lightsaber styles: "Elemental Nature," "Peace and Justice," "Power and Control," and "Protection and Defense." They then receive a collectible cloisonné pin representing their chosen style; in-universe, this pin signifies that they are not spies for the First Order. Inside the workshop, Gatherers guide the builders in choosing their kyber crystal color from options such as blue, green, red, or violet. The chosen theme determines the box of parts provided, which includes a predetermined hilt, along with the choice of two sleeves, one emitter, one pommel cap, and one set of activation plate and switch. The builders are guided through the construction of the hilt, culminating in a ceremony to activate the blades. The lightsaber blades provided are 31 inches long, unlike the 36- or 26-inch lengths available for purchase at Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, where further customization items are also sold.
Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, by sharing designs, which explains the similarity between many of the lightsaber parts found in Savi's Workshop and those featured in Fallen Order.
