Second Spire

The Second Spire, an ancient temple, was a stonework arrowhead linked to a faith virtually forgotten by 1 BBY. Although it stood as one of the tallest constructions within Holy City, it only reached a third of the height of the Temple of the Kyber. Having been deserted by 382 BBY, the spire underwent a refitting to host the intended signing of a treaty between representatives of the warring planets, Eiram and E'ronoh. During this time, Jedi Master Leebon had to miss a Convocation of the Force meeting because her presence was required at the spire. The Second Spire was later bombed during the peace summit by members of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door, a dark side group that collaborated with the Path of the Open Hand cult and Graf family outcast Tilson Graf. Morton San Tekka, who was the summit's mediator, died in the attack. The summit was then rescheduled, with Graf taking over as the new mediator. However, Werth Plouth, Path leader, started a riot in the Square of the Supplicants as the summit was going on. As rioters got to the Spire, a member of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door broke in and assassinated Tintak, the E'roni ambassador. This caused the Eiram and E'ronoh forces inside the Spire to turn on each other, which led to the Battle of Jedha.

By the time 1 BBY arrived, the Galactic Empire had closed and sealed off the Second Spire, along with the First Spire. Compared to the Temple of the Kyber, significantly fewer pilgrims attempted to visit the spire.
