Sher Kar

The Sher Kar occupied the highest predator position on its homeworld, the volcanic planet of Mustafar. These massive, scorpion-esque creatures had six jointed limbs ending in feet that featured a minimum of four toes. The tail of a Sher Kar was jointed as well, extended far beyond the length of its body, and terminated in a pair of dark barbs. The skin of these creatures was scaly and brown, and spikes surrounded the joints of their limbs. A large, toothy maw, complete with a sizable pink tongue, comprised the Sher Kar's head.

The Sher Kar's preferred food source was the large, egg-laying tulrus, and these predators were frequently located within the tulrus' nesting areas. They also presented a danger to humans, and on one occasion, a Sher Kar engaged in combat with two humanoid beings, one with a blaster and the other wielding a lightsaber.

Behind the scenes

Within current Star Wars canon, the Sher Kar received a mention in "Wildlife of Mustafar," a piece found in the "Guide to the Galaxy" section of the thirty-third edition of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, which saw release around August 19, 2015.

Sher Kar originated within the Star Wars Legends timeline; their initial mention occurred in "Galactic Biological Survey Project – Mustafar," an article published on the website of the massively multiplayer online role-playing games Star Wars Galaxies on September 14, 2005. This article served as pre-release content for the game's Trials of Obi-Wan expansion. The creatures then made their debut appearance in the expansion itself upon its release on November 1, 2005.
