The Sith Chalice, an ancient Sith incense burner employed for meditation purposes, was obtained by Darth Sidious. He subsequently displayed it to visitors as Sheev Palpatine, his public facade—the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. It resided in his official suite, where this Sith artifact was part of a collection visible to the Jedi, yet it effectively concealed Palpatine's true Sith identity.
This incense burner, known as the Sith Chalice, was utilized by the ancient Sith during specific meditation practices. Despite its clear Sith origins, the Jedi never questioned the owner—who at the time held the leading position in the Office of the Chancellor and openly presented the Sith artifact—about the incense burner's connections to the Sith.
Darth Sidious recovered the Sith Chalice from the planet Malachor during one of his earlier expeditions. Later, during the time when the Dark Lord of the Sith operated under the guise of Sheev Palpatine as the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, the Sith Lord positioned the Chalice within the Chancellor's Suite located in the Senate Office Building during the republic_era.
By the time of the Battle of Coruscant, Palpatine's Chancellor's Suite contained several other Sith artifacts from his personal collection that were aesthetically similar. Despite the suite's clear reflection of Sith culture, the Chancellor's Sith leanings went unnoticed by even the Jedi High Council, whose members frequently visited the chambers throughout the Clone Wars.

Visitors to Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities within Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge can purchase a replica of the Sith Chalice. While "Coruscant," a 2021 installment in De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series of reference magazines, states that the Sith Chalice originated from Yavin 4, as was the case in the Star Wars Legends continuity, 2016's Star Wars: Complete Locations identifies Malachor as the original location of the Sith Chalice. This article operates under the assumption that the latter source is accurate.
