The Office of the Chancellor, also called the office of the Supreme Chancellor, was comprised of the direct staff working for the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. The Vice Chair held the second-highest position within this office. To aid the chancellery with its administrative responsibilities, a Chief of Staff and senior aides were also part of the team.
The Chancellery Secretariat, situated below the Senate chambers in the Galactic Senate Building, and the Chancellor's office located inside the Senate Office Building, were both under the administration of the Office of the Chancellor.
Following the death of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas above the moon of Oba Diah, Chancellor Finis Valorum's administration classified much of the details surrounding his passing. The Clone Wars saw the office's authority and impact grow to unprecedented levels, starting when the Galactic Senate granted wartime powers to Valorum's successor, Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. After the Republic invasion of Scipio, the chancellery gained authority over the possessions of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. When Palpatine proclaimed the establishment of the Galactic Empire, becoming Emperor of the galaxy, the office was ultimately disbanded.
The Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic was the head of the Office of the Chancellor, which was located on the Republic capital planet of Coruscant. Serving as both vice chancellor and speaker of the Galactic Senate, the Vice Chair was an integral part of the office. The senior administrative aide functioned as an executive assistant to the chancellor. In the Republic's final days, a representative from the chancellery was appointed to the Jedi High Council.
During the High Republic Era period of the Great Hyperspace Rush and Republic expansion, the position of chancellor was shared by two individuals: Kyong Greylark, a human, and Orlen Mollo, a Quarren, who served as Co-Chancellors. These two chancellors, sharing power, governed the galaxy in a new way. Mollo traveled throughout the Outer Rim Territories to assist with the government's expansion and resolve crises, while Greylark remained on Coruscant. Each maintained their own office, with Chancellor Greylark's office claiming credit for the relief supplies that her son, Axel Greylark, brought to the warring planets of E'ronoh and Eiram. Axel was a controversial figure, often discussed on the HoloNet. Secretly, Axel was linked to the Path of the Open Hand cult, whose leader, the Mother, instructed him to steal vials of poison from Eiram. After spending time with Jedi Knight Gella Nattai, Eirami prince Phan-tu Zenn, and E'roni princess Xiri A'lbaran, Axel had a change of heart and decided to destroy the poison during the Wedding of Phan-tu Zenn and Xiri A'lbaran by flooding the Erasmus Capital City. Axel was eventually arrested, putting an end to the destruction, and the wedding-forged peace between the two worlds remained intact despite the incident and the efforts of the rogue Children of E'ronoh.
Mollo chose to bring in Morton San Tekka as the mediator for the treaty signing summit, instead of having a direct Republic representative, due to concerns that an elected official might be seen as Republic overreach. However, the Path disrupted the summit, leading to the Battle of Jedha. Efforts to re-establish a ceasefire coincided with the Republic and Jedi's investigation into the Path, whose members, under the Mother's orders, broke Axel out of prison. Hoping to use Axel's connection with Chancellor Greylark to gain influence for the Path, she had him send a message requesting her presence at the Path's homeworld of Dalna. Kyong, wanting to help her son but also protect the Republic, arrived only after stepping down as Chancellor. This action left Mollo as the Republic's sole leader, much to his surprise, and foiled the Mother's plans. In the subsequent Battle of Dalna, the combined forces of Eiram and E'ronoh assisted the Jedi and Republic in battle, dismantling the Path and re-establishing the ceasefire. Axel, having begun to form a genuine connection with his mother, accepted his crimes and voluntarily returned to prison. Although she pledged to assist during the transition, Kyong had no intention of returning to office.

- InterGalactic Banking Clan, a powerful business organization; control was transferred to the Office of the Chancellor after the Republic invasion of Scipio [20] [1]
While the Jedi High Council had independence in managing the internal operations of the Jedi Order, they were obligated to serve the Senate. Therefore, the Jedi served under the authority of the Senate's elected leader, the Supreme Chancellor, but they still maintained their direct loyalty to the galactic legislature.
