Silman

Silman was a human male who served as a personal assistant for Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum during Valorum's leadership. Leading up to the Separatist Crisis, Silman joined Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas on a mission to Oba Diah. Tragically, their transport was destroyed, and Count Dooku, once a member of the Jedi Order, orchestrated Sifo-Dyas's assassination. Silman lived through the crash, but the Pyke Syndicate held him captive for a decade.

Years afterward, Silman had descended into madness and was found by Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker towards the conclusion of the Clone Wars. Before he could expose Dooku's part in Sifo-Dyas's demise, the then-Sith Lord murdered him.

Biography

A younger Silman, as seen in his file

Before the invasion of Naboo, Silman worked as a personal aide for the leader of the Republic's Senate, Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. Silman was then tasked to aid former Jedi High Council member, Master Sifo-Dyas, in secret discussions with the criminal Pyke Syndicate located on Oba Diah. However, after the talks concluded, Silman's and Sifo-Dyas' T-6 shuttle was shot down above Oba Diah's moon by the Pykes, acting on the orders of an individual known as Tyranus. Tyranus had compensated the Pykes to assassinate Sifo-Dyas, so the Sith could manipulate the clone army against the Jedi and the Republic.

During the assault, their shuttle's long-distance communication system was destroyed. Silman was able to escape using an emergency pod designated 775519 and survived the crash. However, Sifo-Dyas was killed, but not before recording a hologram message where he admitted his involvement in the commission of the Grand Army of the Republic. The Pykes handed his body over to Tyranus. Silman was taken prisoner and confined within the Pykes prison on Oba Diah. Lom Pyke, the Pykes' leader, took Silman's medallion and wore it.

Clone Wars

For a number of years, Silman was held in the Pykes' jail as a safeguard, in the event that Tyranus, the Republic, or the Jedi were to find out Sifo-Dyas's true fate and the Pyke's involvement. As a consequence of his prolonged imprisonment, Silman's mental state declined. He became friends with and provided food for the insects and parasites that shared his cell.

After more than a decade in isolation, Silman had drifted into insanity.

While investigating Master Sifo-Dyas's role in initiating the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker traveled to Oba Diah after discovering that Silman had been with Sifo-Dyas on a mission to mediate a dispute on Felucia. In exchange for an amnesty for the Pykes' betrayal of Sifo-Dyas, Lom Pyke disclosed that the Pykes had kept Silman alive and took them to his cell.

Kenobi questioned Silman regarding the identity of the second Jedi who supposedly accompanied and betrayed them. Despite his mental state, Silman was able to inform Kenobi and Skywalker that someone desired to impersonate Master Sifo-Dyas and had instructed the Pykes to kill them. However, Dooku, who identified himself as Tyranus, the mastermind behind Sifo-Dyas' death, used the Force choke on Silman. By silencing the former chancellor's aide, Dooku stopped him from revealing any more information to the Jedi, including details about the creation of the clone army.

Silman's capture and subsequent death were mentioned in "Index of Organizations," a survival guide distributed by Carson Teva during the New Republic Era.

Personality and traits

Silman was a human male standing at 1.8 meters (5 feet, 11 inches) with fair skin, brown hair, and blue eyes. He worked as an aide to Chancellor Valorum, demonstrating his effectiveness as a politician. His imprisonment by the Pykes caused Silman to become emaciated and pale, with his hair turning white. His mental health also deteriorated as a result of his imprisonment, which led him to become insane in his solitary confinement and see the parasites and insects that lived in his cell as friends. Despite his physical and mental decline, Silman still retained enough of his senses to attempt to expose Count Dooku's role in Master Sifo-Dyas's death.

Skills and abilities

As Chancellor Valorum's personal aide, Silman became highly proficient in the political arena, engaging in discussions about legislative strategies and politics, and even joining other Republic representatives to find diplomatic solutions. When Silman was dispatched to Oba Diah alongside Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, the pair secretly engaged in negotiations with the Pykes. However, their negotiations were unsuccessful in saving them, as Dooku secretly paid the Pykes, who then destroyed Silman and Sifo-Dyas's T-6 shuttle, resulting in the Jedi Master's death. During Silman's solitary confinement in a cell in the Pykes' fortress, he showed great care for the invertebrates that lived there with him, eventually referring to them as his friends, much to the surprise of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Equipment

While serving as the Chancellor's aide, Silman wore a medallion and white robes. The Pykes took his medallion. Due to his imprisonment, Silman was reduced to wearing rags.
