The Oba Diah moon existed as a desert satellite orbiting the planet known as Oba Diah. The Pyke Syndicate was responsible for the destruction of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas's shuttle over this moon, an event that occurred before the Invasion of Naboo. Later, during the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Plo Koon and the soldiers of the 104th Battalion rediscovered the crash site when the shuttle's distress signal guided them to the moon of Oba Diah.
This moon, named Oba Diah, presented as a desolate [desert](/article/desert] landscape as it orbited the planet Oba Diah. The environment was often subject to harsh sandstorms, which severely hindered travel due to the blinding sand and extremely low visibility.
The Pyke Syndicate exerted its control over the Oba Diah moon. In the year 32 BBY, some months preceding the invasion of the planet Naboo, the T-6 shuttle carrying former Jedi Council member Sifo-Dyas and Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum's aide Silman was shot down by the Pykes under the orders of a man known as Tyranus. Sifo-Dyas perished in the resulting crash, but Silman survived the ordeal. Subsequently, the Pykes abandoned the shuttle, taking Sifo-Dyas's corpse to Tyranus and holding Silman as collateral for future dealings.
As the Clone Wars neared their conclusion, a distress signal emanating from the moon was detected at the Jedi Temple. Jedi Master Plo Koon, accompanied by Commander Wolffe and the soldiers of the 104th Battalion, was sent to investigate the signal's origin. After a challenging search through a severe sandstorm, Plo Koon and his forces eventually pinpointed the location of the crashed shuttle. While examining the wreckage, Plo Koon discovered Sifo-Dyas' lightsaber. This discovery aroused suspicion, prompting Plo Koon to order the evacuation of the area and the collection of all wreckage for transport to Coruscant. Following this, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi journeyed to Oba Diah for further investigation, uncovering the Pykes' involvement in Sifo-Dyas's demise and finding Silman imprisoned in their dungeon. They also learned the identity of Tyranus: Count Dooku, a [Sith Lord](/article/sith_lord], a former Jedi Master, and the Head of State for the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
The Oba Diah moon made its initial appearance in "The Lost One," a 2014 episode from the sixth season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
