The Skilla represented a sentient form of species. Inside a bulbous, uvula-esque structure that hung from the upper part of their mouth, situated behind multiple rows of pointed teeth, were their essential organs. These included photosensitive orbs for vision, vibrating cilia for auditory perception, and specialized smell receptors. Carib Diss, a bounty hunter of the Skilla race, possessed a disturbing visage due to his species' unique anatomy and utilized a sensor dome hat to collect environmental information without exposing his mouth.
The initial appearance of the Skilla occurred in the 2019 motion picture Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. This film served as the concluding chapter of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Ivan Manzella, a concept artist, created the species design, originally labeling it "Wizard 41".
