In 987 BBY, a minor conflict erupted at a medical facility located on Bandomeer. This incident followed a failed abduction of an InterGalactic Banking Clan executive, which left the Meerian Salto Zendar critically wounded. He was being treated at the hospital on Bandomeer when the Banking Clan placed a substantial reward for his capture, leading numerous mercenaries to track him to his location.
The first bounty hunter to locate Zendar was Lucia, but she was stopped by a medic named Serra. A Twi'lek then appeared, shooting Lucia, pushing Serra aside, and abducting Zendar. Lucia attempted to pursue them but lost consciousness, and Serra quickly administered life-saving medical care. By the time the brief battle had ended, Zendar was deceased, along with four bounty hunters, two patients, and four hospital employees. Following this, Lucia pledged to protect Serra in gratitude for saving her life.
Approximately in 987 BBY, thirteen years following the end of the New Sith Wars, Salto Zendar, a Meerian, and his three brothers attempted to kidnap a high-ranking Muun executive from the InterGalactic Banking Clan with the intention of demanding a ransom. However, their plan failed—two of Zendar's brothers were killed, one was captured, and Zendar himself sustained severe injuries and was forced to escape.
Zendar was admitted to a hospital on the planet of Bandomeer, situated in the Outer Rim Territories, where he received medical attention for his injuries, remaining in critical condition. Simultaneously, the InterGalactic Banking Clan offered a very large reward for Zendar's capture, prompting many bounty hunters from across the galaxy to pursue him.
Several bounty hunters followed Zendar to the hospital, where the Meerian was still recovering. Lucia, a bounty hunter who had served with the Gloom Walkers of the Brotherhood of Darkness during the New Sith Wars, was the first to locate him. However, Serra, a nurse at the hospital, obstructed her path to the fugitive. Serra refused to allow the Meerian to be moved given his critical condition, even when Lucia threatened her with a blaster.
Lucia hesitated to shoot an innocent nurse to collect the reward on Zendar, but a Twi'lek bounty hunter suddenly appeared and shot Lucia in the abdomen at close range. Serra attempted to block the Twi'lek's way, but he struck her with his weapon and forcibly removed Zendar from the room into the hallway. Lucia attempted to follow, but another bounty hunter appeared, shooting the Twi'lek and taking Zendar; Lucia then lost consciousness as the conflict for Zendar continued.
Serra quickly moved Lucia back into the room and performed emergency surgery while the gunfight continued outside. Despite Lucia having threatened her with a blaster and having just been struck, Serra successfully completed the surgery, saving Lucia's life. When the skirmish concluded, four bounty hunters were among the dead, along with three hospital security personnel, one hospital nurse, two patients, and Zendar himself.
Lucia received a scar from her blaster wound and subsequent surgery, stretching from her navel to her rib cage, which she carried for the rest of her life. Knowing that she owed her life to Serra, Lucia vowed to watch over the young woman from that day forward. Initially, Serra was hesitant to have Lucia constantly protecting her, but she eventually appreciated having a bodyguard, and they became close friends. When Serra married Prince Gerran of Doan, Lucia joined the Doan Royal Guard to continue her duties as Serra's bodyguard.
This skirmish was initially mentioned in Drew Karpyshyn's 2009 novel, Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil. Due to the skirmish being described from Lucia's perspective in the novel, the specific events that occurred after she lost consciousness are not detailed.
