Soboll, a platform city located on Cularin, functioned as a military installation for the Thaereian military. Its construction occurred soon after Thaere Privo took on the responsibility of safeguarding the Cularin system. This base was erected in an isolated region of Cularin, situated a considerable distance from other platform cities, and it even boasted its own exclusive military spaceport. Notwithstanding the stringent security measures implemented at the base, the crime lord known as Nirama successfully managed to plant an informant within the city's ranks.
Soboll had the capacity to accommodate as many as two divisions; however, it typically did not house such a large number of soldiers. Entry to the base was strictly controlled, requiring authorization from Colonel Jir Tramsig, who dedicated approximately 25% of his time within the system to his duties at Soboll. While the city's apparent secrecy did not conceal any illicit operations, the focus of Nirama and the rest of the Cularin system on conspicuous military installations allowed the Thaereians' clandestine bases on Tilnes and Ostfrei to remain undetected for a limited duration.
As a military facility, Soboll differed from other platform cities in that it lacked a baron administrator. Instead, the commanding officer was Major Kurth San. He ensured that his troops were actively engaged in training exercises within the jungles, as well as combating pirates. San also contemplated conducting naval exercises in proximity to the asteroid belt with the intention of dissuading Nirama's smugglers.
