The rare Force power known as the Song of the Force, also called a Force song, Avar Kriss's network, or a "sabersong," was a telepathic application that enabled a user to sense the inherent connections between Force-sensitives and to link their minds via the Force. The connection facilitated by this ability was not precise, primarily transmitting sensations through the network. Despite this limitation, it offered faster communication than verbal exchange, allowing a Force-sensitive to perceive the opinions and emotions of others after a strategy was proposed. With significant focus, a user could employ a version of this network to establish a much more profound connection with the beings surrounding them.
During the Great Hyperspace Disaster circa 232 BBY, Jedi Master Avar Kriss employed this technique. From the bridge of the Third Horizon stationed above the planet Hetzal Prime, Kriss was able to connect the senses of hundreds of Jedi throughout the Hetzal system as they worked to prevent hyperspace debris from obliterating the planet and its moons. Her network allowed her to perceive the feelings of Jedi across the system as melodies within the Force. One such melody belonged to Burryaga Agaburry, a Wookiee Padawan who used the network to inform Kriss that the debris contained living creatures.
Kriss continued to monitor and guide the efforts on Hetzal using her ability until it was discovered that a container of liquid Tibanna was on a collision course with the system's R-class star. A collision would trigger a catastrophic chain reaction, destroying the entire system. Kriss positioned herself on the surface of Hetzal Prime, amidst the thriving life of the agriworld. Harnessing the Force, she rapidly rotated her lightsaber in the air, creating a single, harmonious note. She used this sound to enhance her focus and delve deeper into her network, connecting with all life in the system and rallying her fellow Jedi to divert the container away from the star. Despite immense fatigue, the combined strength of the Jedi successfully moved the object just beyond the star's reach, saving the Hetzal system.
Charles Soule, the author, likened Avar Kriss's song of the Force network to the Force power of Battle Meditation. This power initially appeared in Star Wars Legends but has since been canonized, even making an appearance in The High Republic through Kriss's fellow Jedi Porter Engle. Kriss's ability also bears resemblance to the Legends Force power Force meld.
