Sotorus Ramda

Sotorus Ramda, a general serving the Galactic Empire, was a male human hailing from Rine-cathe 111. During the Battle of Scarif, he held command over the Scarif Deployment. As commander of the garrison stationed on Scarif, he adopted a relaxed approach to his responsibilities. This lackadaisical attitude, however, proved to be Ramda's downfall, as it enabled a small team of rebels to successfully breach the facility with the objective of acquiring the schematics for the Death Star. This event not only marked a pivotal triumph for the Rebellion's cause in the Galactic Civil War, but also led to Ramda's demise when the Death Star's superlaser obliterated the security complex in an attempt to thwart the plan theft.

Biography

General Ramda

In 1 BBY, General Sotorus Ramda was known for his relaxed approach to his command of the Scarif Deployment garrisoned at the Imperial security complex located on Scarif. The base was considered a place for officers with long service records to pass the years until their retirement. The Shield Gate was thought to be an impenetrable defense, making the planet's garrison seem almost unimportant. This lax leadership resulted in Ramda being completely unprepared for the consequences of his overconfidence.

In the days leading up to the Battle of Yavin, Director Orson Krennic arrived on Scarif to investigate all transmissions from the deceased Imperial scientist Galen Erso. Erso was the source of the leaked information about the Death Star that had reached the Rebel Alliance. Ramda complied with Krennic's orders, although he expressed surprise at the scale of the request, given the large number of transmissions sent by Erso.

Shortly after Krennic's arrival, Alliance special forces infiltrated the Shield Gate space station guarding the planet. They landed and launched a surprise attack on the Imperial complex to steal the Death Star plans, later receiving reinforcements from an Alliance Fleet under the command of Admiral Raddus. The Death Star ultimately destroyed the Imperial security complex during the battle's final stages. Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin ordered the battle station to fire on Scarif to prevent the plans from being stolen and to eliminate his rival Krennic, who wanted to command the Death Star himself. Ramda was killed in the process. Despite suffering significant losses, the Alliance successfully transmitted the Death Star plans to the Alliance flagship Profundity. The plans were then transported to the docked Tantive IV, which escaped the battle.
