Plot Synopsis

Jango Fett made a clandestine entry into the estate belonging to Black Sun Vigo Antonin. He discovered Antonin indulging in a bottle of wine, his final bottle. He promptly eliminated the Vigo and subsequently returned to his client for payment. Upon his return to Dreddon, Fett found Dreddon deceased. Shortly thereafter, a voice commanded him to turn around slowly. Upon complying, he was confronted by the blaster wielded by Zam Wesell, another bounty hunter. Instinctively, he drew his own weapon. Locked in a standoff, Fett voiced his dissatisfaction with finding his employer dead before he could claim the bounty on the Vigo. Upon hearing this, Wesell became greatly agitated. Her contract on Dreddon had been issued by Antonin; now, she too would not be compensated for her recent assignment. Recognizing that neither of them would receive payment, they parted ways.

Fett made his way back to Kamino. He anticipated spending quality time with Boba. Upon entering his quarters, MU-12 informed him that a message regarding a job had arrived during his previous mission. He listened to the message from a Dug named Fernooda. The message lacked specific details about the job but requested that Fett meet him at the Twirling Twi'lek on Coruscant to discuss the job's specifics. Reluctant to leave his son so soon after returning from an assignment, Fett reluctantly attended the meeting with Fernooda.

Upon Fett and Fernooda's meeting, Fett was informed that the assignment involved recovering a piece of artwork from Seylott. Fernooda explained that the piece had been part of his employer's extensive collection of primitive art and had recently been stolen from that collection by a native of Seylott. Fernooda informed Fett that the reward for retrieving the idol would be 50,000 Republic Credits. When Fett learned that his employer wished to remain anonymous, he demanded double the price, to which Fernooda agreed, and Fett departed to locate the idol.

The bounty hunter tracked his target back to its home planet of Seylott. Once on the planet, Fett encountered little difficulty in locating the thief and the idol. The thief had placed the idol on an altar and was chanting to it. When Fett attempted to seize the idol, the thief attacked him, and Fett inflicted a mortal wound upon the thief. With his final breath, the thief pleaded with Fett to leave the idol in its place, uttering "...must not take away the infant again ... it must rest with the mother ... return the infant to the womb ... for it is the destroyer of worlds..." Fett departed with the idol. Before he had traveled far, someone placed a blaster against his back and instructed him to turn around. He found himself facing the blaster of Zam Wesell. She informed Fett that she, too, had been hired by Fernooda, but she had decided to allow Fett to do all the arduous work and would simply take the idol from him. As she concluded her explanation, she was attacked by a colossal arthropod. During the attack, Wesell dropped the idol, which Fett swiftly recovered. Fett then aided Wesell in escaping from the arthropod. Observing that Fett had recovered the idol and saved her life, she permitted Fett to return the idol to Fernooda without incident.

Fett returned to Coruscant to collect his reward. Upon receiving his payment, Fett expressed his displeasure with Fernooda for failing to inform him about Zam Wesell and emphatically stated that he would never work for Fernooda again.

After Fett's departure, Fernooda delivered the idol to his employer, Ashaar Khorda. Khorda was greatly pleased to have the idol back in his possession. With the idol secured, he was free to initiate his plan. The ultimate outcome would have involved the idol being used to obliterate the heart of the Republic.
