Star Wars: Republic: The Battle of Jabiim

The story arc titled Star Wars: Republic: The Battle of Jabiim, which is the fourteenth in the Star Wars: Republic comic books series, spans issues 55 through 58. When collected, it is separated into two distinct parts: Blood and Rain and Thunder and Lightning.

Storyline Synopsis

The planet Jabiim becomes a battleground between the Grand Army of the Republic and the Separatists. As Republic troops advance, their Shelter Base is left vulnerable. Alto Stratus, the charismatic Separatist leader on Jabiim, launches an assault on the base, resulting in significant clone trooper casualties. Following the attack, Obi-Wan Kenobi is believed to be deceased. His Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, allies himself with the masterless Padawan Pack and perseveres through the campaign, striving to secure the planet and its valuable mineral resources.

Stratus' offensives cripple the Republic's military strength, and reinforcements dispatched by Count Dooku shift the momentum of the conflict. A temporary improvement in weather conditions enables Republic gunships to land, and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine communicates with Skywalker, instructing him to evacuate the remaining forces. As Skywalker departs, the Padawan Pack members begin to perish one after another. The last surviving Padawan, the promising Aubrie Wyn, eliminates Stratus before succumbing to her own injuries. Upon boarding the transport, Skywalker realizes that there is insufficient space for the Jabiimi loyalists. He employs force chokes on one individual to force them back, causing the loyalists to denounce Skywalker as he abandons them to their fate. Simultaneously, a wounded Kenobi is rescued by droid units and transported to Castle Ventress on Rattatak for interrogation.
