The Steward Droid represented a disguise, specifically a droid, employed by Margrave Juro from the planet Hy Izlan. The reality was that the Steward Droid functioned as a mechanical, armored suit. Juro piloted it from a seated position within its torso. Following Juro's invitation to several Jedi without masters to visit the Aerial Temple of Hy Izlan, he adopted this disguise after he discovered that some Jedi had been killed and replaced by infiltrating Sith agents. Upon the arrival of both the Jedi and the disguised Sith at the temple, Juro, posing as the Steward Droid, greeted them. The Sith acolytes exposed their true allegiance after Lah Kara, daughter of the sabersmith tasked by Juro to craft lightsabers for the Jedi, arrived bearing the weapons. Donning the droid suit, Juro approached the Sith group before revealing his presence inside by opening it up. Subsequently, the margrave dueled the Sith, ultimately defeating his adversaries with the assistance of Kara and the Jedi Ethan.
The Steward Droid made its debut appearance in "The Ninth Jedi," a short film included in the Star Wars: Visions anthology. Kenji Kamiyama directed and wrote the short, with Production IG handling production. It was released on Disney+ on September 22, 2021. An article on StarWars.com revealed the "droid" on September 15. Tetsuo Kanao provided the original Japanese voice acting for both Juro and his droid disguise, while Andrew Kishino voiced them in the English version.
