Tach Drud's spice den

During the Galactic Republic's reign, [Tach Drud](/article/tach_drud], a spice dealer, ran a spice den located on Level 3321 of the planet Coruscant. The Coruscant Security Force discovered the den after a spice-addled holo-star led them there, and subsequently deployed an undercover probe that recorded a hologram of four customers.

This hologram, along with notes from Inspector Tanivos Divo of the Coruscant Security Force, were featured in Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, a book released in 34 ABY by Exantor Divo, the inspector's grandson.

Description

[Tach Drud](/article/tach_drud], the spice dealer, managed his spice den from a curio shop situated on Level 3321 of Galactic City, the sprawling ecumenopolis encompassing the planet Coruscant. Inside the den, a booth offered seating for patrons, featuring a low table at its center, surrounded by benches along three walls. The booth's walls, along with the table and benches, were various shades of gray. The booth's open side included a floor-level grill spanning its length, and a circular, grilled window was present on one of the walls.

History

Tanivos Divo (right) made notes on Tach Drud's spice den.

The den operated while the Galactic Republic was in reign. The Coruscant Security Force became aware of its existence after capturing and questioning a spice-dependent holo-star. In exchange for keeping their identity out of the news, the holo-star guided them to the location. Subsequently, the law enforcement agency placed a covert probe within the den. In 7942 C.R.C., the probe recorded a hologram showing four patrons in a spice-induced haze inside a booth, with their drug-related items displayed on the table. The group consisted of two Pykes, a human, and an alien. One of the individuals was a well-paid senatorial lobbyist, while another was a cargo hauler living in near-poverty.

Inspector Tanivos Divo of the Coruscant Security Force added the surveillance hologram to his case files. He also wrote a note about the patrons, observing how spice seemed to level the playing field between people of vastly different economic statuses. Exantor Divo, Divo's grandson, later included the den's hologram and his grandfather's observations in his book, Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, published in 34 ABY.

Behind the scenes

The reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, written by Pablo Hidalgo and featuring an illustration of the den by Brian Fajardo as part of Gunship Revolution, mentioned Tach Drud's spice den in 2018.
