During the Great Galactic War, Tai Cordan, a human male serving as the trade secretary for the Balmorran government, became involved with the Rift Alliance. With the assistance of the Barsen'thor from the Jedi Order during the Galactic War, he ascended to the position of President of Balmorra, facilitating his homeworld's re-entry into the Republic. Subsequently, he stepped down from the presidency to serve as Balmorra's senator.
Following Balmorra's transfer to the Sith Empire, Cordan was among the few government officials exiled from the planet. He then aligned himself with the Rift Alliance. During the Cold War, when the Galactic Republic resolved to reclaim Balmorra, Cordan participated in the world's liberation on Balmorra. He collaborated with a Jedi Consular to reinstate the Balmorran government and eliminate the Imperial presence. Cordan guided the Barsen'thor in securing support from Resistance leader Zenith and various corporations before dispatching the Jedi to rescue President Retheus Galthe. Tragically, Galthe was driven to insanity through torture, leading the Balmorran populace to choose Cordan as his successor. Subsequently, Cordan honored his commitment to the Barsen'thor by advocating for Republic membership and providing them with Balmorra's collection of battle droids. While the Barsen'thor journeyed across the galaxy aiding the Rift Alliance and exposing the Children of the Emperor, Cordan remained on Balmorra, communicating with his colleagues via holo-correspondence.
At some point either before or after the Eternal Empire's conquest of the galaxy, Cordan relinquished his presidential role to become Balmorra's representative in the Galactic Senate. Later, Cordan wished to join the Outlander's Alliance against Zakuul, but didn't know how to find them. While searching, he encountered Imperial Admiral Zasha Ranken and Malita Tal, an exiled Zakuulan holo-performer, both of whom were also trying to join the Alliance. United by a shared goal, the three formed their own alliance. Eventually, Arcann's forces discovered and captured them, transporting them to Zakuul under the Emperor's belief that they knew the Outlander's location. Fortunately, their transport was raided by the Alliance, who were attempting to seize the ship.
Jedi Master Kutri O'a, in one of his many visions of potential futures, saw a descendant of Tai Cordan named Lara Cordan, who would endeavor to establish a new Rift Alliance.
