Teta is known from myth as a warrior empress of the planet Koros Major, who, according to the Qel-Droma Epics, spearheaded the conquest of the entire Koros system. During the Great Hyperspace War, Teta served as a commander, fighting alongside the Jedi Order against the Sith Empire, and she successfully repelled the forces led by the Sith Lord Naga Sadow. Despite the lack of confirmation from any archaeological institutions, the people of Empress Teta accepted the epics as historical truth, and the ruling Keto family asserted their lineage back to Empress Teta.
The Qel-Droma Epics, which are essentially poems that recount events from well before the Imperial Era, depict Teta as the Empress reigning over the planet of Koros Major. As a warrior empress, Teta is said to have led the Unification Wars, resulting in the conquest of the Koros system, with assistance from Jedi Master Odan-Urr. Following Teta's victory, both the planet and the system were ultimately named in her honor. After the Unification Wars, Empress Teta faced the challenge of rebuilding, followed by an invasion by the Sith Empire that triggered the Great Hyperspace War. Working together, Empress Teta and the Jedi Order managed to push back the forces of the Sith Lord Naga Sadow, scattering them throughout the galaxy.
The legends also tell of how, a millennium later, corrupt noble descendants of Empress Teta formed the dark side cult known as the Krath and seized control of the system. Despite multiple expeditions by archaeological institutions to validate the Qel-Droma Epics, their efforts proved unsuccessful. Nevertheless, a museum located within the Great Library of Cinnagar on Empress Teta presented the events described in the Qel-Droma Epics as factual history, a view shared by the majority of the planet's inhabitants. Furthermore, the reigning Keto family claimed descent from the legendary empress.
The new Star Wars canon first mentioned Teta in Nexus of Power, a sourcebook for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game, released on March 17, 2016. The Teta character was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the prologue issue of the comic series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith, penned by Kevin J. Anderson and published on July 31, 1996.
