"The Obstacle Course, Part 1" is a narrative presented in comic form, and it holds the distinction of being the primary story featured in Star Wars Adventures (2020) 1, which was released to the public on October 7, 2020.
Finn and Poe Dameron were observing the landscape on Noaxson, a moon situated in the Outer Rim. This moon was considered perilous due to its unpredictable shifts into darkness and the ever-changing terrain. Rey emerged, initially wearing a blindfold, curious about the situation. Upon removing the blindfold, it was revealed that they had constructed an obstacle course for her to train as a Jedi. R2-D2 assisted in the design. They expressed their desire to aid her Jedi training, for which she expressed gratitude. BB-8 then accompanied her on the course.
Upon reaching a bridge, BB-8 employed his grappling hooks to traverse it. The bridge appeared fragile, and Rey cautiously began to cross. Suddenly, the bridge gave way, but Rey managed to leap across to the other side. However, her challenges continued as she fell into a cave. Upon landing at the cave's bottom, she encountered a group of pirates who demanded to know her identity.
Meanwhile, aboard the Millennium Falcon, Finn grew anxious about Rey's delayed return. Dameron reassured him of her safety, but Finn remained concerned about her well-being. Subsequently, they were apprehended by two pirates, who intended to deliver them to Algron.
Concurrently, Rey attempted to explain that she was an archaeologist experiencing difficulties with her starship. However, Algron and his associates were skeptical and recognized her true identity. They planned to contact the First Order, who were willing to offer a substantial amount of credits for her capture. Realizing she had no alternative but to fight, she seized her quarterstaff and engaged the pirates in combat. Behind her, BB-8 utilized his arc welder to fend off the attacking pirates. Algron instructed his pirates to board their ship and contact the First Order as Rey swung at him. Algron, also armed with a quarterstaff, engaged Rey in a duel until she delivered a decisive blow, knocking him unconscious. Rey and BB-8 escaped the cave, but they quickly realized that the obstacle course was their only route back to the Falcon.
