During a race on the planet Rion, not long after the Battle of Yavin, the swoop racer named Kuru discharged six of these micro-missiles from his vehicle, targeting his rival Han Solo. Luke Skywalker, Solo's ally, intervened to save him from these projectiles by piloting another swoop directly into their trajectory.
Kuru, a swoop racer, employed a swoop that was armed with at least six thermite micro-missiles. These missiles could be launched individually from small arms positioned at the rear of his vehicle, with three on each side. This event occurred shortly following the Battle of Yavin, which is considered the beginning of 0 ABY.
While engaged in a swoop race on the planet Rion, Kuru launched six missiles at the vehicle driven by his opponent, Han Solo. Kuru's intent was to incapacitate Solo, potentially requiring a visit to a medical center, as he and his associates were attempting to collect an Imperial bounty on the racer. As Solo maneuvered to evade the incoming missiles, his companion, Luke Skywalker, came to his rescue by piloting a swoop directly into their path and then leaping towards Solo's vehicle. Although the missiles destroyed the swoop Skywalker was flying, Solo and his vehicle remained unscathed, allowing him to ultimately win the race.
The thermite micro-missiles made their debut in the comic entitled "Swoop Racers," which was included in the twenty-first issue of the Star Wars Adventures series, released on May 8, 2019. The comic's narrative was crafted by Cavan Scott, with illustrations provided by Derek Charm.
