Thurg

Thurg functioned as a Gamorrean protector for Sheb Valaad, a Koorivar dealer situated on Otor's Hub, throughout the period of the Clone Wars. Sheb operated as a vendor of illicit goods, focusing on jewels, artistic creations, paintings, and possessions taken from individuals who had suffered "unfortunate ends." When Quinlan Vos, an undercover Jedi, and Akar-Deshu ("Desh") infiltrated Sheb's establishment, Thurg was rendered unconscious by the smaller Desh.

Biography

During the Clone Wars, Thurg served as a Gamorrean guardian for Sheb Valaad, a Koorivar black market merchant. Sheb was an unethical businessman whose specialty was trading in the artistic works and personal belongings of individuals who had experienced "unfortunate fates." Sheb employed Thurg, given his imposing stature, to both safeguard his shop and to conduct searches for weapons on visitors. On one instance, Thurg searched Master Tal, a Kiffar customer, for any concealed weaponry. Unbeknownst to both Thurg and Sheb, Tal was actually a false name used by Quinlan Vos, a disguised Jedi Master, who was investigating Sheb's unlawful activities. Sheb insisted that Tal adhere to the rules when he voiced objections. Thurg permitted the Kiffar to enter Sheb's office after frisking Tal and confirming that he was unarmed.

While Sheb was entertaining Tal, Thurg had to contend with an intruder: Akar-Deshu ("Desh"), a Mahran and a Jedi Knight who was a comrade of Master Vos. Thurg utilized his considerable size to forcefully seize Desh's arms and escort him into the shop. The Jedi High Council dispatched Desh to retrieve Tal for a fresh assignment. When Tal recognized Desh, the Jedi Master employed his Force powers to levitate Sheb into the air. Desh, recognizing this signal, twisted and raised his hands. Despite his relatively small size, the Mahran managed to flip Thurg, causing him to fall to the ground. Throughout the conflict, Thurg supported his master's bodyguards as they battled the Jedi intruders, ultimately being knocked out by Tal, who struck him in the temple with the handle of his lightsaber. Thurg remained unconscious throughout the duration of the fight and was apprehended alongside his master by Jedi reinforcements.

Personality and traits

Thurg, a robust Gamorrean, served as a guard for Sheb Valaad's establishment, which focused on selling illicit items acquired from deceased people. He leveraged his large physique to intimidate problematic patrons. Despite his considerable size and strength, he was outmatched by the Force abilities of the diminutive Mahran Jedi Knight Desh and his ally Quinlan Vos. Thurg had an irritating habit of picking at his teeth and his pig-like nose, habits that greatly bothered Blue, Sheb's protocol droid. Thurg communicated using a deep, guttural version of Galactic Basic Standard.

Behind the scenes

Thurg made his initial appearance as a secondary adversary in Dark Disciple, a 2015 novel penned by Christie Golden.
