Tomb of Kujet

The Tomb of Kujet, alternatively referred to as Kujet's Tomb, was a palatial structure constructed by the Zeffonian on Dathomir. It acted as both the power center and final resting place for the Zeffo Sage known as Kujet. Kujet embraced the dark side of the Force, known for his habit of executing enemies and throwing them into the palace's deep pits. During his reign, Kujet attempted to obliterate all of the Astriums, but at least two survived until the time of the Clone Wars. Kujet also committed massacres against his own followers, freezing them in stone using the Astrium. In 14 BBY, during the Mission to Dathomir, Cal Kestis ventured into the Tomb of Kujet. There, following the Mission to Ilum, he confronted the former Jedi, Taron Malicos. Within the tomb, Cal Kestis also located one of the last remaining Zeffo Astriums.

History

Zeffo Sage Kujet's former palace served as his final resting place, transforming into the tyrant's tomb.

This grand structure, built as a secluded stronghold for the Zeffo leader Kujet, functioned as a fortress specifically designed for sacrifice and death. Kujet's time in power was characterized by his merciless nature and his dedication to the dark side of the Force. Despite promising immense power to his followers, Kujet would often hurl his adversaries into the vast pits that bordered the throne room of the Dathomir palace.

Within the palace halls, Kujet slaughtered a significant number of rebel forces, their bodies eternally frozen in silent screams, desperately clawing at the walls in vain attempts to escape. Following Kujet's demise, his remains were placed within a standing sarcophagus, and the walls of the tomb were adorned with murals depicting the brutality of his reign. Clutching one of the few remaining astriums, a relic Kujet deeply desired, he was buried within.

The Tomb of Kujet marked the location where the fallen Jedi Taron Malicos met his end, being buried alive.

Centuries after the tomb was deserted and its existence faded from memory, the Nightsisters of Dathomir continued to sense the lingering darkness emanating from the place, avoiding its haunted ruins. When Jedi Master Eno Cordova sought to uncover the tomb's hidden knowledge, he was turned away by the palpable evil that permeated the atmosphere, leading him to abandon his quest. After the Clone Wars and the downfall of the Jedi Order, the former Jedi Taron Malicos infiltrated the palace, succumbing to the tomb's corrupting energies. He established a following of sycophants from the Nightbrothers inhabiting the ruins, and Malicos attempted to sway the Padawan Cal Kestis to the dark side. However, he was ultimately defeated and entombed within the ancient palace's halls by Kestis and the Nightsister Merrin. Before his departure, Kestis, who had experienced visions of his deceased Master Jaro Tapal while within the ruin, took the Astrium from Kujet's corpse as part of his mission to unlock the Zeffo vault on Bogano.

Behind the scenes

The Tomb of Kujet made its debut in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment. George Rushing created the concept art for the tomb. The tomb's design aimed to allow players to witness Kujet's brutal reign through visual storytelling. Through exploration, designers arrived at a visual style that combined towering Brutalist statues with Rodin-inspired murals, along with clean lines and angular walls that evoked the aesthetics of ancient Egypt.
