The Trigalis system existed within the Juris sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. It was home to the swamp planet Trigalis, which had become a well-known shadowport by the time of the Clone Wars. During that period of conflict, both the Jedi Aayla Secura and Obi-Wan Kenobi journeyed to Trigalis for separate missions, with Kenobi ultimately gaining intelligence regarding a planned assassination attempt on the arms dealer Drama Korr. In 19 BBY, forces belonging to the Galactic Empire moved through the system as a component of the Five Veils Campaign.
The system known as Trigalis was situated in the Juris sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. It was positioned along the hyperlane called the Five Veils Route, which provided a connection to both the Ninzam and Qeimet systems. The swamp planet of Trigalis was located within this system.

The space surrounding the Trigalis system was explored sometime between 1000 and 25 BBY. Sometime before the galactic Clone Wars, the city of New Coronet was founded on Trigalis as a trading location. However, decades prior to the Clone Wars, the city had already descended into a criminal hub, and Trigalis became a renowned shadowport.
During the Clone Wars, the Trigalis system existed within the territory of the Galactic Republic. In 22 BBY, during the initial campaigns of that war, the Republic's Fifteenth Sector Army was tasked with engaging the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the area around the system. Shortly after the Commerce Guild acquired the planet Ukio, the Trigalis system appeared on a galactic map displayed on a viewscreen at a facility managed by Passel Argente, the Magistrate of the Corporate Alliance.
Around 19.48 BBY, Jedi Master Aayla Secura received an assignment that took her to Trigalis. Approximately a month later, Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi undertook a personal mission to verify his suspicion that Asajj Ventress, a Confederacy commander who was presumed to have been killed by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, was still alive. To that end, Kenobi also visited Trigalis.

While present, Kenobi found out from Xist, the Black Sun leader in New Coronet, that Count Dooku, a Confederate leader, had dispatched one of his top agents to assassinate Xist's rival, the arms dealer Drama Korr, on Maramere in the Karthakk sector. The following day, Kenobi borrowed Secura's starfighter to travel to the Mid Rim planet Naboo to enlist Skywalker's help in preventing Korr's assassination.
By 19 BBY, the Trigalis system existed just outside of the territory controlled by the Galactic Empire. In that year, Imperial military forces under the command of Grand Moff Octavian Grant passed through the system while pursuing Marath Vooro, the former Customs Vizier of the defunct Trade Federation, from the planet Farstine along the Five Veils Route.
Around 25 ABY, the Trigalis system's population was somewhere between ten million and one hundred million. New Coronet on Trigalis was home to representatives from a variety of sentient species, and many of the city's inhabitants spoke Galactic Basic Standard.
The Trigalis system was initially featured in the first issue of Star Wars: Obsession, a comic series from Dark Horse Comics. The comic was written by Haden Blackman, with pencils by Brian Ching, and was released on November 24, 2004. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, placed the system in grid square P-17.
