Unidentified extra-galactic spacer

An alien astronaut hailing from a distant galaxy traversed the Dragon's Spine, an asteroid belt encircling the desolate planet Tatooine, sometime before the Naboo Crisis occurring in 32 BBY. This astronaut's vessel collided with an asteroid, resulting in an emergency landing on the desert planet. Marooned on Tatooine with their damaged starship, the astronaut encountered Watto, a local Toydarian scrap dealer, who proposed providing necessary spare parts in exchange for money. Subsequently, the stranded astronaut engaged in various contests at Jabba the Hutt's Game Plaza until accumulating sufficient wupiupi credits to procure the required replacement components. After successfully repairing their spacecraft, the astronaut departed Tatooine permanently.

Biography

Stranded on Tatooine

The spacer's ship careening out of control

Despite the widespread belief that a hyperspace anomaly beyond the galaxy's edge rendered travel between galaxies unachievable, historical records contain contradicting instances. Prior to the Invasion of Naboo events in 32 BBY, one such extra-galactic astronaut, aboard a starship distinguished by crimson markings, arrived in the binary Tatoo star system, located within the Outer Rim Territories. While navigating through the Dragon's Spine, the asteroid field encompassing the desert planet of Tatooine, their starship collided with one of the asteroids. The damaged spacecraft, spiraling uncontrollably, crashed onto the sun-baked world, leaving the pilot stranded. Determined to find assistance, the astronaut proceeded to the city of Mos Espa, where Watto, a Toydarian merchant, operated a shop. Keen to convert the newcomer into a paying customer, Watto assured the astronaut of his ability to supply high-quality ship components to repair the damaged vessel. The visitor was informed that they could acquire wupiupi credits by participating in Jabba's Game Plaza, a gambling establishment managed by the local crime lord, Jabba Desilijic Tiure the Hutt. To enhance their chances of success, the astronaut was even provided with a droid assistant named Z-P70, one of the Toydarian's robotic helpers. Watto also furnished the astronaut with a checklist outlining the necessary components for repairing the ship and their availability in his shop.

Sojourn in Mos Espa

The spacer entered Jabba's gaming venue.

At the Game Plaza, the stranded astronaut took part in four gaming events, wagering against local celebrities. The astronaut competed against the renowned podracer Sebulba, challenging him to his signature game of "Dueling Dice." Another competitor was Ratts Tyerell, who hosted a colossal snakes and ladders game known as "Ratts Race." Under a yellow and green tent was Teemto Pagalies, with his Digotto gaming booth. The stranger even played Holochex against Jabba the Hutt himself, defeating the crime lord at his own game. Gradually, the astronaut amassed enough funds to buy the needed spare parts from Watto. However, the final required component, a StarMark III hyperdrive, remained too costly for the offworlder to acquire with their earnings. Given that the ship was only equipped with sublight engines, it could only travel at speeds below lightspeed. Without a hyperdrive unit, the stranger would be unable to return to their galaxy within a reasonable timeframe. Consequently, the astronaut agreed to work for Watto, collecting space debris in the nearby asteroid field. Eventually, the damaged starship was fully repaired in the Toydarian's private hangar, and the astronaut departed Tatooine permanently.

Personality and traits

The astronaut possessed proficiency in strategy games and other mental competitions. Jabba the Hutt himself remarked that the stranger possessed "the heart of a Hutt," a significant compliment considering the Hutts' self-perceived superiority over most other lifeforms in the galaxy. The stranger also earned the respect of the other gaming hosts. Despite their extra-galactic origins, the astronaut demonstrated sufficient comprehension of Galactic Basic Standard to negotiate with Watto and the other participants at Jabba's Game Plaza.

Behind the scenes

In Star Wars Math: Jabba's Game Galaxy, an educational video game published by Lucas Learning in 2000, the player assumed the role of a stranded astronaut. The character's gender, species, and name were never explicitly defined in-game, allowing the player to assign a name of their choosing. Unlike other game characters—such as Rookie One from Star Wars: Rebel Assault or Jaden Korr from Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy—this astronaut has not been reused or granted a definitive canonical identity in subsequent works.
