A Grand Vygoth of the Wandering Star was a Pau'an male who possessed the title for an extended time period. In approximately 231 BBY, set within the High Republic Era, a clandestine Pau'an operative from the Galactic Republic acted as a Wandering Star member and encountered Arathab Fal, a criminal from Tarnab, regarding a weapon that Fal's superior—Kisma Uttersond, the Nihil Doctor—was selling on the planet of Vorzyd V.
After Fal inquired if the operative had money available, the Pau'an confirmed and added that the Grand Vygoth greatly desired the weapon. The operative then indicated that he was tasked with verifying the weapon's authenticity, prompting the Tarnab to contact Uttersond and inform him that Wandering Star was making demands. Consequently, the doctor instructed Fal to kill the operative. Before he could act, several Nihil members appeared, leading to a conflict where the Tarnab murdered the operative and fled.
During the Imperial Era, Cli Pastayra, who believed the Vygoth's advanced age had caused the syndicate's decline, aspired to depose him and assume his position. Both Pastayra and the Grand Vygoth were killed by Fyzen Gor and his droids during an auction held on Cantonica.
The Grand Vygoth's initial appearance was in the 2018 novel Last Shot, penned by Daniel José Older. The second issue of the 2021 comic miniseries Star Wars: The High Republic: Trail of Shadows—also written by Older and released as part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project—referenced a Grand Vygoth, although it was uncertain if this was the same Grand Vygoth from Last Shot. Older later verified on Twitter that the Vygoth mentioned in Trail of Shadows 2 was intended to be the same individual as in Last Shot.
