Unidentified priest (Red Nebula)

The Red Nebula priest, a figure of great reverence, made his home within the sacred temple situated in the heart of the Red Nebula. This temple served as the secure repository for two crimson jewels, objects of immense religious significance to him.

Biography

He firmly held the belief that the jewels acted as a shield, safeguarding their planet from the widespread devastation that had befallen numerous other planets within the Red Nebula. Conversely, another dissenting faction was convinced that the jewels were detestable and should be annihilated, viewing them as an affront to Cosmic Destiny. This dissenting group faced exile for their beliefs. However, they eventually made their way back to the Red Nebula, having forcibly recruited several mercenaries from Terminus and compelling them to undertake a mission to steal the jewels from the aforementioned temple.

Among the mercenaries they had captured were Han Solo and Chewbacca, who were the first to infiltrate the temple and encounter the priest. In an effort to thwart the theft of the jewels, the priest summoned the temple guardian to defend the sacred artifacts. However, Chewbacca, bearing a resemblance to the guardian albeit on a smaller scale, managed to divert the guardian's attention.

Capitalizing on this distraction, Solo seized the jewels and delivered them to Klysk, the representative of the exiles. Klysk and the mercenaries subsequently relieved Solo of the jewels, abandoning the smuggler and his companion on the planet. The exiles then steered their vessel directly into the sun, intending to obliterate both the gems and themselves. Unbeknownst to them, Solo had cleverly concealed the authentic jewels, providing the exiles with replicas. This act, according to the priest's faith, spared the planet from destruction. As a reward for safeguarding the jewels, the priest furnished Solo and Chewbacca with a spacecraft to facilitate their return to Terminus.

Some years later, Domina Tagge engaged a team of bounty hunters to locate the fabled crimson gems of the Red Nebula. They successfully located the planet housing the jewels and captured both the gems and the priest who was tending to them. As Tagge's Mining Explorer departed with the gems, it was swiftly intercepted and boarded by Imperial forces. A fierce exchange of fire erupted between the crews, culminating in the Imperials seizing one of the crimson jewels. Amidst the chaos, the priest, succumbing to wounds sustained during the conflict, released the remaining crimson jewel. With one jewel exposed and separated from its counterpart, it unleashed a catastrophic phenomenon known as the Crimson Forever upon the crew of the Mining Explorer. This effect was only neutralized upon the reunion of the two jewels.

Behind the scenes

The priest's appearance suggests he is Human, but with distinctive pointed ears. Leland Chee, a figure on the StarWars.com Message Boards, proposed the hypothesis that "all species characterized by pointed ears are either Sephi or share a close genetic relationship with the Sephi."

Intriguingly, this priest displays several shared traits with Darth Vader's secretary.
