Unidentified T-series tactical droid (Aayla Secura's ambush)

This T-series tactical droid fought for the Separatist Droid Army during the period known as the Clone Wars. The year 22 BBY saw him lead his droid forces in an attempt to seize a Galactic Republic information bunker, with the objective of acquiring crucial data regarding the Grand Army of the Republic. As it turned out, the bunker was a cleverly designed trap, and the tactical droid's forces were ambushed by Republic clone troopers. The tactical droid sought refuge inside the bunker, only to be cornered and ultimately destroyed by Jedi General Aayla Secura, who then seized his cranial unit to perform a robolobotomy and extract the information it contained.

Biography

The tactical droid commands his forces.

This T-series tactical droid participated in the Clone Wars as a member of the Separatist Droid Army, and in the year 22 BBY, he garnered the interest of Jedi General Aayla Secura. Secura, with the goal of obtaining the information stored within the memory banks of the tactical droid's cranial unit, devised an ambush to capture the droid's head. She, along with her clone troopers, established a trap by creating a false information bunker situated in a rocky canyon. Eventually, the tactical droid discovered the existence of the bunker and, driven by the hope of acquiring valuable intelligence about the Grand Army of the Republic, he led his droid forces in an attempt to seize it.

Upon the arrival of the tactical droid and his forces at the bunker, Secura had already concealed herself within it, and she had positioned her clone troopers on a nearby rock formation, where they prepared to ambush the droid forces. As a B2 super battle droid detonated the door of the bunker, the tactical droid issued orders to his data retrieval droids, instructing them to gather all of the information contained within the data banks inside. However, the droids reported back to the tactical droid that the data banks were completely devoid of information. This revelation caused confusion for the tactical droid, and at that precise moment, the Republic clone troopers initiated their attack. Under intense fire, the tactical droid panicked and commanded his droid forces to defend him as he fled into the bunker, abandoning his comrades to their destruction at the hands of the clone troopers. Once inside the bunker, the droid proclaimed his own importance, stating that he was too valuable to be destroyed, but he was suddenly confronted by Secura. Before the surprised droid could activate cyberostasis in order to safeguard his memory banks, Secura swiftly decapitated the tactical droid using her lightsaber. The Jedi then seized the droid's undamaged head, preparing to transport the cranial unit to her cruiser and analyze it through a robolobotomy.

Characteristics

The tactical droid is decapitated by Aayla Secura.

This droid, produced by Baktoid Combat Automata, shared the characteristic height of 1.93 meters with all tactical droids and possessed significantly greater intelligence compared to standard battle droids within the Separatist Droid Army. His independence from control by a central control computer enabled him to think and operate autonomously. The droid was programmed with masculine programming and featured white photoreceptors.

The droid exhibited a strong sense of impatience and a keen desire to acquire information about his adversaries. An information bunker, which the droid believed to hold Republic intelligence, proved to be an irresistible target for him. He frequently expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of his subordinates, often insulting the droids under his command while urging them to move more quickly and, later, to shield him. The tactical droid also held the belief that he was more valuable than his troops—far too valuable to be destroyed. When Secura's trap was sprung, the tactical droid succumbed to panic and failed to activate cyberostasis in time to protect his memory.

Behind the scenes

This droid's appearance marked the debut of tactical droids, and his first and only appearance occurred in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars webcomic titled Headgames, which was set before the first season episode "Jedi Crash" of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. Pablo Hidalgo wrote Headgames, and Thomas Hodges provided the illustrations.
