Unidentified valley

A valley filled with stone became the final resting place of a starship. This vessel hailed from Lesser Space, a region beyond the Unknown Regions, and its crash occurred in 19 BBY. Just before the impact, a human female on board assured her co-pilot, the Chiss Syndic Mitth'ras'safis, that his [species](/article/species], the Chiss, would eventually find their way to this valley.

Behind the scenes

The valley as depicted in Star Wars Legends

This valley was initially introduced to the current Star Wars canon in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, which concluded Timothy Zahn's The Ascendancy Trilogy. Previously, within the Star Wars Legends timeline, the valley made its debut in Zahn's 2004 novel titled Survivor's Quest.

The valley's mention drew upon Zahn's Star Wars Legends novel Outbound Flight, published in 2006, which chronicled the destiny of the Outbound Flight starship. In that narrative, Chiss Syndic Mitth'ras'safis and Human Jedi Knight Lorana Jinzler aimed to steer the ship toward one of the habitable yet unexplored worlds situated within the Unknown Regions' star cluster known as the Redoubt. However, the ship's extensive damage forced them to crash land in a secluded valley upon a planetoid within the star cluster. While the Redoubt also exists in canon, no connection was established between these two locations.
