At the young age of three, his parents, both employed as bounty hunters, met their demise during a mission that went awry. Left to fend for himself, Saun roamed the streets of Nar Shaddaa until he reached the age of 15, at which point his aptitude for navigating the complexities of the world caught the attention of the aging Jedi Master Quinlan Vos. As he neared the age of eighteen, Saun's suspicions regarding Vos's motives grew, leading him to commit murder while Vos was asleep, not long after Vos encountered a young boy whose circumstances mirrored Dann's own.
Subsequently, Dann found himself on the losing end of a dubious transaction and was abandoned on Hypori. It was on this desolate world that he stumbled upon the wreckage of an Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, a starfighter commonly used in the later stages of the Clone Wars. Over the course of several months, Dann honed his survival skills on the planet and managed to repair the ship, which he then used to escape its confines. With the entire galaxy at his disposal, he ultimately chose to settle on Kashyyyk, where he established a successful trading business with the native Wookiees and any travelers who happened to pass through his region of the planet.
In 0 ABY, Dann played a role in the Rebel victory during the Blockade of Kashyyyk. However, this act made him a target of the Empire. In 4 ABY, shortly before the Battle of Endor, some of Dann's relatives invited him to a celebratory dinner on Coruscant. Among the attendees was his nephew, Aibin Dann, who was on leave from his service in the Imperial Military. It was during this fateful feast that Saun Dann met his end, succumbing to the effects of a poisoned Wookiee-ookiee that had been laced with toxins by his own nephew.

With the intention of eradicating the Jedi Order, Palpatine manipulated the Force to impregnate Shmi Skywalker, resulting in the creation of Anakin Skywalker, a being designed to emulate the qualities of the Chosen One and serve as a Trojan Horse. Sometime after the Battle of Hoth, Palpatine also engineered a clone of himself, intending for the boy to eventually succeed him as Emperor. Anakin was ultimately redeemed for his actions by his son, albeit at the cost of his own life. As Palpatine's clone matured, he grew repulsed by his progenitor and rejected any association with that life. Palpatine disowned him, and the boy severed his connection to the Force, eventually finding contentment as a junk dealer alongside his wife. In reaction to the creation of Anakin, the Force brought about Rey, the true Chosen One, by impregnating Palpatine's daughter-in-law. This being ultimately destroyed Palpatine and restored balance to the Force, fulfilling the ancient prophecy.
