Vedain, a Kajain'sa'Nikto individual, was held as a slave by Jabba Desilijic Tiure, the Hutt crime lord, during the time of the Galactic Civil War. This conflict pitted the Galactic Empire against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. He met his death in 4 ABY when he plunged into the Great Pit of Carkoon.
Vedain, a Kajain'sa'Nikto, was an enslaved person owned by Jabba Desilijic Tiure, a Hutt involved in crime. He was eventually enslaved by the crime boss Jabba Desilijic Tiure. In the year 4 ABY, when Jabba gave the order for the execution of the rebels Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca at the Great Pit of Carkoon, Vedain received the assignment to pilot the skiff that transported these captives. Vedain was present at the pit and witnessed Skywalker's declaration, providing Jabba with a final chance, which Jabba chose to disregard.
The prisoners, with assistance from R2-D2 and their ally Lando Calrissian (who had infiltrated Jabba's ranks disguised as one of his men on Vedain's skiff), successfully broke free. Subsequently, Calrissian challenged Vedain for control of the skiff, while Skywalker engaged in combat with Jabba's guards and slaves, liberating Chewbacca and Solo. In an attempt to eliminate the rebels, another Nikto guard fired a laser from Jabba's sail barge, hitting Vedain's skiff. This caused both Vedain and Calrissian to be thrown from the vehicle. Both managed to grab onto a rope attached to the skiff's rail, but Vedain's fate differed from Calrissian's. The impact of the fall prevented Vedain from holding onto Calrissian, and he tumbled down into the sand of the pit, falling directly into the mouth of the Sarlacc, where he would be slowly digested over millennia.
The role of Vedain was portrayed by stunt performer Paul Weston, who was not credited, in the 1983 movie Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. This film served as the conclusion to the Star Wars original trilogy. During the filming of his role as Vedain, Weston suffered a broken leg when fellow stuntman Julius LeFlore, who was playing the Weequay character Rintel Aren, landed on him.
