Vik Idd, a Human male, collaborated with his sister, Nikki, and their father, Lonn, in their droid repair enterprise during the Imperial Period. Around 15 BBY, while on the planet Dodz, Idd and his sister acquired a pair of droids without masters: the protocol droid C-3PO and the malfunctioning astromech droid R2-D2. Idd then made the decision to take the droids under his and his sister's protection.
Once they had returned to their father's repair station, Idd and his sister found that the gangster Tig Fromm was making demands of their father, specifically that a laser weapon be installed on Fromm's starship. Although Nikki was captured early on, Idd and his two newly acquired droids confronted Fromm's henchmen, initially without success, as the young Human ultimately ended up in Fromm's captivity as well. Ultimately, the family was rescued by C-3PO, who disguised himself as an HK Guardian Droid in order to frighten Fromm away. Subsequently, the droids were entrusted to the Intergalactic Droid Agency with the goal of finding them new owners.
Vik Idd, a Human male, was a member of the family that operated a droid repair business. From their repair station, and under the supervision of their father, the engineer Lonn Idd, Vik Idd and his sister Nikki Idd were tasked with piloting an Intergalactic Droid Agency shuttle, collecting droids from various planets. Lonn would then fix the droids, and his children were amazed by his abilities in both repairing and designing them.

Following a stop on Dodz around 15 BBY, where the damaged astromech droid R2-D2 and his counterpart C-3PO were picked up, Vik Idd and his sister set a course for the repair station. During the trip, a scuffle erupted between the droids they had picked up on Dodz and the other droids on board, causing dismay for the young pilots. Idd gave the droids a firm warning to stop fighting, or he would deactivate them all. A droid that was wrestling with C-3PO quickly let go of the protocol droid, causing him to bump into the unstable R2-D2. Sparks started flying from the astromech, and Idd told his sister to secure the unit with an energy shield before the electrical discharge could damage their systems and themselves. Nikki did as she was told, preventing the crisis and stabilizing the R2 unit, at least until Lonn could examine him.
Idd and his sister assured C-3PO that their father would be able to repair the damaged astromech, but the protocol droid still lamented the fact that they were without a master. To cheer C-3PO up, Idd suggested that he and his sister could be their masters until R2-D2 was fixed, an offer that the protocol droid happily accepted. However, Idd had no real use for the droid at the time, and invented the fake role of "landing security," where C-3PO was required to secure the other droids in preparation for the shuttle's arrival at the repair station.
As the siblings landed the shuttle at the repair station, they noticed that their father was curiously absent from the docking bay. The Idds then saw an imposing ship in the bay, which worried them. Nikki told Idd to send the droids they had collected to their assigned repair stations, while she would try to find out what was keeping Lonn. Idd did as he was asked, taking the droids to the appropriate areas, accompanied by C-3PO and R2-D2. As he finished his task, the communications monitor in the supply shed turned on, showing the infamous gangster Tig Fromm and his associate Vlix Oncard, both members of the Fromm Gang, terrorizing Lonn and Nikki. Specifically, Fromm demanded that Lonn install a powerful laser on his starship, the impressive craft that the Idds had noticed earlier. Vik Idd correctly guessed that Nikki had turned on the communications monitor to warn him—together with the droids he decided that they should leave the supply shed before Fromm's men found them.
Idd went back through the hangar with R2-D2 and C-3PO, and hid in an old parts storage room. While there, the protocol droid identified an HK Guardian Droid, an outdated model that was resistant to blaster fire. However, Idd was not interested in this, and was focused on finding a way to rescue his father and sister. R2-D2 suggested that they confront Fromm and his men directly—the young Human agreed, but because his father had a "no weapons" policy on the repair station, he felt unprepared to deal with Fromm's thugs. Nevertheless, R2-D2 claimed that he could be used as a weapon, given his current unstable state, if the energy shield that Nikki had put in him earlier was removed.

Following through with the plan, Idd watched from a distance as C-3PO and R2-D2 approached the area where Nikki was being held. The protocol droid confronted two of Fromm's men, removing the energy shield from R2-D2—the resulting energy released by the astromech droid distracted the thugs long enough for Idd to sneak past and free his sister. The two children were soon cornered by one of Fromm's hover guards, who responded to the thugs' complaints by shooting R2-D2. Fromm's men, leaving the two droids behind, then took Idd and his sister to the hangar, where Lonn was finishing his work on Fromm's ship. Idd's father demanded that the gangster leave his family alone, but Fromm was not interested, and instead declared his intentions to test the weapon on the repair station.
At that moment, something that looked like the HK Guardian Droid appeared. Lonn asked where the droid had come from—Idd was unsure until he noticed that the HK was shaking at the knees, and he correctly guessed that it was none other than C-3PO in disguise. Fromm, recognizing the droid as a rare unit, demanded possession of the HK's control disk, and Idd, sensing an opportunity to gain an advantage, agreed by asking his sister to hand "it" over. The device was actually Nikki's disk-shaped Nova Starlight perfume dispenser, which she quickly sprayed into Fromm's face, while Idd encouraged the disguised C-3PO. The protocol droid was initially attacked by the hover guards, but was eventually able to push them aside with his armored arms. As C-3PO cornered the gangsters with his intimidating form, Idd dropped a packing net on them, restraining Fromm and his men.
Idd then revealed the "HK" trick and unveiled C-3PO inside the droid armor. However, the protocol droid had other things on his mind, remembering that R2-D2 had been badly damaged by the hover guard earlier. The Idds took care of the injured astromech, and Lonn was able to restore him to full functionality. The engineer then offered to have his children fly the two droids to the nearest Intergalactic Droid Agency so they could serve new masters. Idd and his sister agreed, and the droids eventually went through the IDA and into the service of Ambassador Zell of Majoor.
Vik Idd would become discouraged when things didn't go as planned, such as when he had to deal with a fight between droids waiting for repair on his family's shuttle as they were beginning their final approach to their father's repair station. He was not afraid to raise his voice to the droids he was responsible for taking care of, and could give instructions to his sister in times of crisis. Idd was also sympathetic to the plight of droids, such as C-3PO, who struggled with the idea of not having a master. Vik Idd could also see through tricks, such as C-3PO disguised as an HK Guardian Droid, and he was able to adapt quickly in a crisis, turning the tables on gangsters Tig Fromm and Vlix Oncard with his initiative. Idd disapproved of activities done by female members of his species, such as his sister Nikki's use of perfume.
Vik Idd first appeared in the 1986 comic Droids (1986) 2, written by David Manak and penciled by John Romita Sr. The character was not directly referenced again in the Star Wars Expanded Universe until the StarWars.com blog entry "The Droids Re-Animated, Part 1" by Abel G. Peña and Rich Handley in 2013.
