Volo Madine

Volo Madine was a male Human miner. He lived his life during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography

During 1 ABY, Volo Madine, a miner, found himself on Dathomir to mine ore. At that time, an accident occurred at the nearby Imperial Research and Prison Facility. The Blackwing virus being studied there broke free, devastating the local population and transforming them into ravenous undead. Zombies soon attacked Volo Madine, but his carrion spat, Betsy, rescued him. Betsy attacked the undead, which allowed her master to escape the undead and flee. Madine believed that Betsy had been killed by the undead and was heartbroken by the loss of his companion.

Later, to control the outbreak, the Galactic Empire established a Quarantine Zone. Volo Madine, along with a few other survivors of the initial outbreak, found themselves trapped inside. The survivors established camps in order to fight off the constant zombie attacks and try to survive while hoping for rescue. Madine eventually found refuge in Camp Beta, together with Stephon Sprocketfire and the Bothan Oona Wran.

Subsequently, a spacer arrived at Camp Beta and delivered a radio to Volo Madine. Jeb Maris, an Imperial pilot from Camp Alpha, provided the radio, having decided to create a communication network between the camps. After radios had been distributed to the five camps within the Quarantine Zone, the survivors were able to coordinate supply drops sent from outside the Quarantine Zone. Meanwhile, another spacer stumbled upon Betsy, alive and well, while exploring the Quarantine Zone. The adventurer decided to return the carrion spat to her owner and eventually located Volo Madine at Camp Beta. The man was overjoyed to discover that his pet had survived and was very grateful to the spacer.
