Warspite was an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate that saw action within the Imperial Navy throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War.
During Operation Strike Fear, it functioned as a component of the task force commanded by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer named Invincible. While assembling in the Dellalt system, Keyan Farlander spotted it during a reconnaissance mission in his R-22 Spearhead for the Rebel forces. It was accompanied by a trio of CR90 corvettes known as 427. The Warspite also employed a devastating attack involving a sudden drop from hyperspace against medical vessels meeting up after the Battle of Brigia. Several shuttles, along with the CR90 corvette called Korolev, were in the process of moving injured personnel to the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate named Redemption. The Warspite emerged from hyperspace and immediately deployed TIE Series fighters. Following this initial strike, it jumped back to hyperspace, reappearing on the opposite side of the transfer point to launch additional fighters. The Rebel X-wings defending the area had engaged the first wave and were not in position to counter the second. However, the pilots of Red Squadron, notably Keyan Farlander, managed to evade the TIE/LN starfighters for a sufficient duration to eliminate both waves of TIE/sa bombers, ensuring the escape of all Rebel vessels. Despite this, the tactic gave the Warspite a reputation among future Alliance pilots, who would subsequently encounter a training scenario modeled after this mission, considered almost impossible to overcome.
Later on, captured Sullustan technicians were being transferred to the Warspite and the Nebulon-B frigate Negra Star for relocation to Coruscant. The Alliance launched a rescue effort, dispatching a lone Y-wing, again piloted by Keyan Farlander, to identify and disable the transports carrying the Sullustans. Farlander then engaged TIE fighters launched from the nearby frigates, while Rebel transports successfully extracted the prisoners.
The Warspite was painted a dark gray and prominently displayed a large black Imperial emblem on each side of its bow. Despite being equipped with turbolaser batteries, its targeting accuracy was notably poor.
The name HMS Warspite was used for nine different vessels in the British Royal Navy, including one of Britain's most well-known battleships.
The Warspite Nebulon-B escort frigate was included as a miniature in the 2007 initial release of the Star Wars PocketModel TCG.
